Jebel Shams
Known as the “Grand Canyon of Oman,” Jebel Shams is the highest mountain in the country, offering breathtaking views of rugged canyons and deep gorges. The spectacular landscape is a haven for hikers and adventure enthusiasts.
Bahla Fort
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bahla Fort is one of Oman’s oldest and most impressive forts, with origins dating back to the pre-Islamic era. The fort’s mud-brick walls and watchtowers reflect the traditional Omani architectural style.
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
Located in the capital city of Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. It features a grand dome, intricate carvings, and a beautiful prayer hall adorned with an enormous handmade Persian carpet and a dazzling Swarovski crystal chandelier.

Pro Tip: The best time to travel and see the turtle hatching in Oman is during summertime, between May and September. We were there in February, and unfortunately, we saw only one turtle on land.
Stunning Wadis and Bimmah Sinkhole
There are several stunning Wadis (riverbeds) in Oman. You should add wadi-hopping to your Oman itinerary. We visited three: Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Shab, and Wadi Qurai.
Nestled in the limestone hills of eastern Oman, the Bimmah Sinkhole is a natural wonder with turquoise blue-green waters. Legend has it that the sinkhole was formed by a falling star. It is a popular spot for swimming and picnicking.
Jabrin Castle
Jabrin Castle is one of Oman’s most well-preserved historic castles, dating back to the 17th century. Located in the interior of Oman, the castle boasts intricately painted ceilings, secret passageways, and stunning views from its towers.
Visitors can explore the various rooms, including the Imam’s residence, and gain insights into Oman’s architectural and historical heritage.
