Willemstad and its Historic Districts
The first highlight of beautiful Curaçao is Willemstad. It is the capital city of Curaçao and is famous for its colorful Dutch colonial architecture.
Willemstad is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most charming cities in the Caribbean. Divided by St. Anna Bay, there are two distinct districts: Punda and Otrobanda.
On the Punda side of Willemstad, you will find Handelskade. It is that picturesque stretch of waterfront you have probably seen on a Curaçao postcard.
Punda boasts iconic landmarks such as the Queen Emma Bridge and the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue (the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere). Queen Emma Bridge is a floating pedestrian bridge, and it is a good spot to take pictures with colorful colonial buildings in the background.
Meanwhile, Otrobanda offers a more laid-back atmosphere with quaint streets, vibrant murals, and the historic Rif Fort.
Two must-visit museums are in Otrobanda: The Curaçao Museum and the Kura Hulanda Museum. Visit these museums to learn all about Curaçao’s history as well as the dark chapters of its past.
Mambo Beach and the Boulevard

Christoffel National Park

Relax on the beach or explore the island’s abandoned lighthouse and shipwrecks. Swim alongside colorful marine life, including sea turtles.

Hato Caves

Hato Caves is on the northern coast of the island near Willemstad. Explore intricate stalactites and stalagmites in these limestone caves formed millions of years ago.
